Chicago Youth Centers Believe in Kids Annual Dinner
On Thursday, May 14, more than 300 civic and business leaders gathered for the Believe in Kids Annual Dinner—Celebrating Where Possibility Lives at The Standard Club to celebrate and support Chicago Youth Centers’ transformational impact on Chicago children and communities. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors and guests, the fundraiser netted more than $402,000! Proceeds support CYC programming, which empowers families and children to discover and realize their full potential.
Honorary event chair Jerald Gary, welcomed everyone to the event. Gary said, “Now in its 60th year I truly believe CYC is well positioned to increase their positive impact and I hope all of the possibility reveals itself to you this evening.”
During the event, CYC President/CEO presented CYC’s highest honor—The Spirit of Youth Award—to 2012-14 Board Chair and current board member, Roger Shores, whose leadership embodies CYC’s mission, vision, pillars and values.
Shores then presented the Believe in Kids Scholarship to CYC teens, Jakarra Jenkins and Breanna Sanders (pictured above).
The evening also featured keynote speaker Michael Brandweis. Michael Brandwein is committed to helping the parents, teachers, mentors, and advocates who serve our nations youth. This commitment perfectly aligns with the mission of CYC. With your support, generosity and steadfast commitment, CYC is proud to continue this fight and help children break the cycle of poverty and violence.
Thanks for all you do.
