Kevin Cherep, CYC President & CEO

To the Chicago Youth Centers community:

On behalf of the Chicago Youth Centers (CYC) Board of Directors, I am delighted to inform you that our exhaustive four-month search has concluded with the selection of Kevin Cherep as CYC’s President and CEO. Kevin will officially join CYC on August 7, 2017.

We received an overwhelming response to the job opening and feel fortunate to have had such a rich pool of applicants. We are confident that Kevin’s experience, knowledge, and passion are a great match for the staff, stakeholders, and – most importantly – the kids of CYC. Together, we will work to advance our mission and ensure that Chicago’s children receive the tools, experiences, and opportunities needed to find a path up and out of poverty and violence.

Previously, Kevin served as the Chief of Global Development for the International Association of Lions Clubs. He managed three international offices, led the development of a global strategic plan, and oversaw all service programming and government advocacy efforts. Prior to his work with Lions, he was the Chief Development and Marketing Officer at Soles4Souls and the Executive Director of Foundations of Saint Thomas Health. An Illinois resident most of his adult life, Kevin studied non-profit management at DePaul University, has three children, and is involved in several professional associations, including the American Society of Fund Raising Professionals and the American Society of Association Executives.

CYC has a clear strategic vision for growing and strengthening our impact and outcomes. Kevin is proud to be part of an organization with such bold plans for creating lasting change in Chicago. He is eager to meet people like you who make our work possible. As CYC’s Summer Enrichment Program enters its third full week of programming, he will have an excellent opportunity to see our mission in action as youth learn to swim, build robots, complete math challenges, create music, and dream big dreams for their futures. He looks forward to helping CYC spread its message, build strong partnerships, and deepen its impact.

I hope you will join with CYC’s staff and Board of Directors in welcoming Kevin to our organization. If you have any questions or comments about this announcement, please reach out to Kate Tillotson, Vice President of Development and Communications, at kate.tillotson@chicagoyouthcenters.org or 312-913-1700, ext. 440. Thanks for all you do to support CYC.

Sincerely,

Daniel M. Feeney, Chair of the CYC Board of Directors
